On Android, open Settings and look for SIM manager (Samsung) or Network & internet > SIMs (Pixel), tap Add eSIM, and scan the QR code from your email. Then select the travel eSIM for mobile data and turn on roaming for that SIM when you arrive.
Samsung Galaxy
- 1Open Settings > Connections > SIM manager.
- 2Tap Add eSIM, then Scan QR code from service provider.
- 3Scan the QR code from your email and confirm.
- 4Rename the new SIM "Travel" and keep it switched on.
- 5Under Preferred SIM card, set Mobile data to Travel and keep Calls and Messages on your usual SIM.
Google Pixel
- 1Open Settings > Network & internet > SIMs.
- 2Tap Add SIM (or + next to SIMs), then Download a SIM instead? if asked.
- 3Scan the QR code from your email and tap Activate.
- 4Open the new SIM, rename it "Travel" and turn on Mobile data for it.
Other Android phones (Xiaomi, Oppo, Motorola, OnePlus)
Menus differ, but the path is similar: Settings > SIM cards & mobile networks (or Mobile network) > Add eSIM or Manage eSIM > scan the QR code. Then set the new eSIM as the data SIM.
When you arrive
- 1Open the Travel SIM settings and turn on Roaming.
- 2Make sure Mobile data uses the Travel SIM.
- 3Turn off roaming on your home SIM to avoid charges from your operator.
- 4If no network appears after a minute, restart the phone or pick a network manually under Network operators.

The model may not support eSIM, or it is a regional version without it (common for some phones sold in China and Hong Kong). Dial *#06# and look for an EID.
Can I scan the QR code if it is on the same phone?
Take a screenshot, then use the option to add from an image if your phone offers it, or enter the activation code manually. Opening the email on a second screen is easier.
Should I delete the eSIM after my trip?
